Jesus chose 12 disciples to follow Him while He lived on earth. What is a disciple—and can we still be disciples today?

A disciple is a learner, but when we’re disciples of Jesus it means more. He is not only our teacher, but also our Lord. Once we choose to follow Jesus as a disciple, we can choose to grow in our relationship with Him to know Him better and know the power of God’s Holy Spirit within us better. As we grow, we become more and more like Jesus, and the example we set by following Him can impact others. They can choose to be disciples or grow into better disciples as God’s power works through our example.
